Fimba connects continents

2005. PItu and Tonci Brazilian and Croatian basketball players met each other during the first FIMBA world champion liga in 2005.

2006. Tonci organized Pitu's visit to Croatia ,where he spent 3 weeks coaching in the basketball camp of Croatia's champion, Cibona Zagreb. ,and after 2006 ,

2007. Pitu came again in 2007,with a young Brazilian player ,and they spent 2 weeks in Zagreb ,working and playing with great coaches of Cibona ,and with the famous Pino Grdovic (a former coach of so many European stars as Bodiroga ,Gregor Fucka ,Toni Kukoc ,and others)

2009. Cibona's coach Josep Dulibic came to Pitu to Porto alegre and coached Brazilian kids ;tree weeks long .and he will come again...

This Fimba story should go on like so many other stories of friendships that were made at the best maxi championships by so many great people...

Antonio, Pitu , Evandro , Gigo, Tonci, Petar are different names from different continents, but also names of Brazilian and Croatian basketball players who met each other during the first FIMBA world champion liga in 2005.

Brazil and Croatia were big competitors. Out of 12 national teams Croatia became 5th and Bazil the world champion. Brazil won, but nobody lost.

Nobody loses,because every FIMBA championship is a big win for everyone who comes to play ,to meet people, to live the FIMBA maxi basketball life.

This is a little FIMBA maxi story.

During the gala dinner and a big singing party of each national team ,Evandro introduced Antonio Pitu Krebs with Tonci Vanjak from the Croatian team. Pitu who is still active in basketball as a coach of Sogipa had interest to find out more about Croatian basketball.

Thanks to new technologies ,”the old basketball boys” continued the contact also after the tournament.

The following summer Tonci organized Pitu's visit to Croatia ,where he spent 3 weeks coaching the kids together with some other Croatian coaches in the basketball camp of Croatia's champion, Cibona Zagreb. The camp was located on the island Ugljan, which is close to Zadar. Zadar..the bigest rival of Cibona…(can you imagine camps of river plate on bomboniera …or of gremio by inter or in rio…..ok it is not very harmonized in croatia ….however this cibona-zadar situation is possible in the summer,when the basketball teams don`t play each other and the fans are looking for the beautiful Croatian girls on the beautiful Croatian coast.

This exchange was excellent. Pitu was fascinated with Croatia, Cibona's coaches with Pitu and Tonci with a beer which Pitu payed on Zadar's main street Calelarga…a street for big shopping, slow walking and talking, in this more than 3000 years old beautiful city of Tonci's birth… ,and after 2006 ,Pitu came again in 2007,with a young Brazilian player ,and they spent 2 weeks in Zagreb ,working and playing with great coaches of Cibona ,and with the famous Pino Grdovic (a former coach of so many European stars as Bodiroga ,Gregor Fucka ,Toni Kukoc ,and others)

FIMBA friends always stay friends ,and after Zadar Zagreb Frankfurt, the friendship continued with a beer together in Montevideo at the FIMBA maxi pan American or world championship in Puerto Rico,and the story did not end….Cibona's coach Josep Dulibic came to Pitu to Porto alegre and coached Brazilian kids…tree weeks long .and he will come again,..
