The Technical Committee

The Technical Committee of FIMBA has appointed the FIMBA Referees for the 5th European Championship. The Technical Coordinator of the tournament will be Mr. Seppo Sonkeri from Finland. The list of the referees is: Niels Hennig (Germany), Berty Matus (Israel), George Michalopoulos (Greece), Lüdvik Fekonja (Slovenia), Dino Seghetti (Italy), Axel Riek (Germany), Jure Fiser (Slovenia) and Pietro Crescenti (Italy).

To whom it my concern: Article Mr. Bianchi very impotant and very topical. There is absolutly nothing in basketball officiating which contributes more to success-- or to failure--than the ability of the crew to work together.Officials who operate as a team to: see the same game; know where their partners are; trust the partners; and COMMUNICATE,will work a good game every time. The modern game does not require three(or two) referees to handle the game; instead it requires one team of referees. The pre-game conference should help develop this teamwork. Also, I think we need a clinic for local and FIMBA referees together before each Championship. Sincerely, Vladi Eliseev (USA).

Premiación en Perú

Se premió en Perú, en la Gran Unidad Escolar Meliton Carbajal al Sr. Valentín Monges Palacios por su apoyo incondicional al básquetbol en su extensa carrera como deportista, dirigente y jugador de maxibásquetbol, habiendo logrado el Campeonato Mundial en el año 1993 en Las Vegas, USA y participante activo de las últimas competencias FIMBA. La premiación se produjo en el ámbito del Día del “Pichanguero”, que significa en Perú: “quien juega basquet por amor a este deporte y no por dinero”. Desde su nacimiento en el departamento de Tacna en 1951, su paso por las filas de su país, que abrazó como profesión, hasta convertirse en integrante de la Selección Nacional, tuvo una continua actividad deportiva.
